Normally the time to decide to bring a child to an appointment is when, in general, the child is not well. When the child shows clear signs of suffering (crying, tantrums, stomach pains, headaches, nausea, disturbed sleep), when the child demonstrates behaviours that interfere in their quality of life, when relationships with family and/or friends are not harmonious, when school gets complicated and difficulties arise. Consultation should take place when these manifestations persist.
Children may not be able to process and articulate their own emotions. And so, in this consultation, in a place that is comfortable, safe and where trust is developed, space is given to emotions and thoughts, helping represent and modify the lived experiences. The improvements are significant.
In this consultation we play, because playing is the best language for children!
